Purpose of The First Independent Church of Scientology
Part of being human is the yearning for meaning. We look inward. We search the heavens. And we ask big questions about who we are and why we are here. We long to understand life’s mysteries and to discover a route to happiness and freedom.
To this end, L Ron Hubbard undertook his own search. He explored many great thinkers (philosophical, spiritual, and scientific) and spiritual approaches, winnowing out the most useful gems of knowledge. He uncovered truths previously undiscovered. And he developed practical applications so all beings could benefit from this wisdom.
Hubbard determined the workability of his techniques by persistently applying them to himself and others, and by teaching others to use them and report on their observations. This hands-on approach enabled him to continue improving the route to spiritual freedom until his death in 1986.
Through codification of this learned wisdom, Ron created a plethora of material that can be studied and used. He hoped to make the path we all strive to travel accessible to anyone. This is L. Ron Hubbard’s legacy and he wished mankind to have it freely.
The first principle of my own philosophy is that wisdom is meant for anyone who wishes to reach for it. It is the servant of the commoner and king alike and should never be regarded with awe.
The ultimate freedom depends on knowing the ultimate Truth. Truth is not what people say it is, it is what it is. And Truth, quite remarkably, sets one free, just like philosophers have said down the ages.
The First Independent Church of Scientology believes these hard-won truths should be available to anyone willing to pursue them. We know firsthand that examining one’s life through the lens of inherently true data can bring insights and open doors to a fulfilling life of spiritual achievement.
This website has no relationship to the “Church of Scientology.” It has been compiled and created by a few long-time Scientologists. We of the First Independent Church of Scientology chose to part ways with the “Church of Scientology” in order to better align ourselves to Hubbard’s original materials and his intent in creating them. Scientology is a religion that anyone can practice. The information on this site is for anyone who wishes to learn more about the religion of Scientology, and for those who want to practice Scientology independently of the “Church of Scientology.”
We hope you’ll examine the materials here and think about them for yourself. You can and should have the power to take any of this information, and after consideration, decide whether it is worth integrating into your own life.
You are welcome to read any of the materials here, and accept or reject them as you see fit.
Any information is valuable to the degree that you can use it. In other words, any information is valuable to the degree that you can make it yours. Scientology does not teach you. It only reminds you. For the information was yours in the first place. It is not only the science of life, but it is an account of what you were doing before you forgot what you were doing.
Scientology is the science of knowing how to know answers. It is a wisdom in the tradition of ten thousand years of search in Asia and Western civilization. It is the Science of Human Affairs which treats the livingness and beingness of Man and demonstrates to him a pathway to greater freedom.
